About the event
Local 5 piece Amalgam were formed in the dark days of the Pandemic. Originally rehearsing remotely, they developed a wide-ranging and original repertoire.
Every member of the band contributes compositions, chief amongst them self-taught keyboard player Dave Lee.
The band has a 2-pronged front line led by Lawrence Harper on trumpet and flugelhorn and complemented by David Whiting on guitar. Jason Nichols on bass and Trevor Taylor on percussion completes the rhythm section providing a richly varied foundation.
When not playing their own material, they are likely to draw on the compositions of Pat Metheny and other artists working in the ECM fusion style.
They completed their first album Colours (available on FMR records) earlier this year and have already started work on their second in partnership with multi-instrumentalist sound
engineer Paul Higgs.
This is free entry event. No ticket required, just turn up!
