As part of our mission to provide opportunities to young musicians, we are delighted to welcome back the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra to the 2025 Southend Jazz Festival. These fabulous young musicians played to a delighted audience of nearly 100 at last year's festival.

As part of our mission to provide opportunities to young musicians, we are delighted to welcome back the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra to the 2025 Southend Jazz Festival. These fabulous young musicians played to a delighted audience of nearly 100 at last year's festival.
The Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra was formed in 1982 for musicians from the Essex Youth Orchestra who were showing an interest in playing jazz.
EYJO plays regularly across Essex and has performed at some of London’s major venues, including the ‘O2’, Barbican Hall, King’s Place, and the 100 Club, Oxford St.
The Orchestra has also played with many noted international special guests, including the American saxophonists Herb Geller, Lanny Morgan, and Jean Toussaint, and with UK based musicians including Digby Fairweather and Henry Lowther.
EYJO has enjoyed many European tours over the years, has recorded for BBC Essex Radio and BBC Radio 3, and has performed…
