About the event
Percussionist Airto began his career at the age of 16 in the local clubs of Sao Paulo. His band Quarteto Novo set the standard for a new style in Brazilian music.
Relocating to the United States in the 1960s he did the same for jazz, working with the likes of Miles Davis, and Weather Report.Flora Purim’s singing career paralleled that of Airto, becoming the first singer to to couple her pure sound with the hybrid style of Latin-Jazz-Rock fusion.
Her perfected vocal style is truly unique.
