"Celebrating the Tough Tenors" is a high-energy live jazz project co-led by the acclaimed Australian-born, UK-based saxophonist Brandon Allen and his long-time musical sparring partner, British saxophonist Alex Garnett. Having performed together for over 20 years, the duo created this project to honor and reimagine the historic jazz tradition of the "Two Tenors" or "Tenor Battles".
The show captures the competitive but friendly camaraderie of legendary saxophone duos. Their sets span classic hard bop, rhythm and blues, high-energy modal blowouts, and rich ballads. They pay direct tribute to some of the most iconic partnerships in jazz history.
